For sale: Classic Akai GX-215D reel-to-reel tape recorder featuring Akai’s Glass & Crystal Ferrite GX head system and a three-head configuration.
This particular machine has recently undergone repair work and was returned to working condition using new replacement parts. It is a well-used example cosmetically, with visible wear and several imperfections to the cabinet and exterior, so please study the photos carefully.

Cosmetic condition:
Used condition with noticeable cosmetic wear
- Scratches, marks and general age-related wear across the cabinet and front panel
- Lettering on the GX head cover is heavily worn/faded
- Wear and scratches visible on the aluminium reels
- Several edges and trim pieces show chips and scuffing
- Lower corner/foot areas show damage and previous repair/tape
- Rear wooden panel shows age-related wear and damage around the connector area
- Various marks to the side panels and cabinet edges
The cosmetic condition is clearly visible in the photos and should be considered part of the description.
Service / Repair Performed:
According to the service note dated 17 September 2026:
- Interference suppression capacitors replaced
- Unit repaired and returned to working condition
- Repair carried out using new replacement parts
The machine has therefore received recent technical attention rather than simply being offered as an untouched vintage unit.
