For sale: a TEAC 144 Portastudio multitrack cassette recorder, an early cassette-based recording workstation designed for multitrack home and project-studio recording.
This unit has received mechanical service and repair work. The tape transport initially had problems with winding and take-up, causing the machine to stop during operation. Several mechanical shafts were found to be seized and were freed up, lubricated, and brought back into operation.
After several hours of servicing and testing, the transport functions were working again and the machine was left on test.

Cosmetic condition:
The recorder is in used vintage condition.
- General signs of age and previous use
- Some controls may still show minor age-related noise
- The lid supports had previously been broken
- A previous repair attempt on the lid supports had failed
- The supports have now been glued again and the repair is holding
- Evidence of previous internal repair work is present
